well what a great time in benidorm there just under 5weeks and apart from about 5 days the weather was sunny, but strange as were the camping is situated you don't see the high rise apps just the mountains as a back drop. Water pump packed in while I was there but there was someone onsite who had a spare and fitted it for me (130euros ouch). Met loads of people off Motorhome fun site to many to name but what a great bunch. Left there on the 2nd jan as arranged to meet friends in Fuengirola on the 4th did a bit of wild camping that night then moved on straight into a party which was the 3rd, yesterday was a recovery day, bit more bad luck when I noticed a crack in the windscreen, just phoned up and waiting for reply it's a big holiday here tomorrow ( three kings) so hoping I can get it fixed today as meeting Marc (Horsham jack) on the 7th at Algeciras to go over to Morroco, that's it for now hopefully can post this
This is the aire I stayed at Friday night can recommend, got up Saturday with in intention of going via Pau but the weather turned as I set off so decided to take the motorway to Bayonne/Irun, it was light rain now but easy driving and it was great catching up on some my old music. Soon got a few miles under the belt and next to no time was at Irun, tolls in France 3x5.30 - 3.20 - 2.40 first time using Tolls and it was straight forward just headed for a booth with "t" and green arrow and used my Halifax card. Into Spain, another toss up of toll or none toll by now the rain was worse so took the easier option of toll, didn't mind as at least in future I can way up options with the correct info. Again just plodding on around the 60-65mph by now it was raining heavy so good decision. The last bit of m/way towards Zaragoza (took ticket at unmanned booth) had me worried as I think I was the only one on it, how much is this going to cost ??? Tolls Irun Zaragoza 2.15 - 3.61 - 5.50 and the last 9.40 Easy to follow directions just before Zaragoza to Teruel Yep still raining but was quite enjoying easy driving and music, ( 10hr driving days were the norm for me at work) had a aire marked out at Teruel but carried on and after the menu del dia at a service just got my head down there about 120k from Valencia, couldn't understand it head felt ok next morning checked to see if I had been gassed in my sleep but all that had gone was a couple of inches of whiskey, Next day (Sunday) 160ml Benidorm and you guessed it started raining, decided no tolls today so went via Valencia ok at 8.30 on a Sunday morning but wouldn't fancy it at any other time. Really heavy rain most of the way arrived camping La Torreta 10.30 TBC
Well I thought the boat got in at 04.30 which it did only I hadn't counted on the 1hr forward another doh!!! Anyway it was pitch black so decided to get a few miles under the belt till it got light, nearly 3hrs later it started to get light by then I'd done a few miles so kept plodding on stopping when ever and now I'm on a aire at cavignac great just off the N10
Finally got going on way to Mick & Irene in Somerset, on way down got a text off DFDS to say ferry cancelled Thursday eve due to industrial action so now booked on Newhaven Dieppe also Thursday eve but this one gets in at 04.30 doh!!, anyway enjoying a lovely glass of port and we'll see what tomorrow brings.
